superbrat is a variable display typeface based on the »tv letters« by walter haettenschweiler. the grotesque typeface is characterised by a high contrast in stroke thickness and softly rounded internal forms. in super brat, the originally soft, rounded forms evolve into increasingly angular and edgy variations. as a result, the character of the typeface shifts from elegant and soft to striking and powerful. the variable version makes this design transition visible and opens up a spectrum of typographic expression within a single typeface family.
